About the Healthcare Hub
The Healthcare Hub, developed by AmCham North Macedonia’s Healthcare Committee, is an educational platform aimed at building capacity and advancing knowledge among key actors in the healthcare ecosystem. Through structured, topic-driven learning programs, the Hub addresses system-wide challenges in healthcare policy, regulation, innovation, and access.
The Healthcare Media Academy – Rare Diseases Track is the Hub’s pilot training program tailored specifically for journalists — providing the tools and understanding needed to strengthen healthcare reporting and public dialogue.
Why This Program?
Healthcare is one of the most complex and sensitive areas to report on — and often the least accessible. This program aims to bridge that gap by giving journalists direct access to experts, credible data, and real-world examples through an engaging, story-driven format.
Rather than theoretical lectures, the program explores key aspects of the healthcare system through specific rare disease case studies — making the content relevant, tangible, and applicable to media reporting.
What Will Be Covered?
Using disease-specific examples, the training will explore:
- Healthcare System & Policy Framework
- Medicines & Public Financing Pathway
- Healthcare Funding, Budgeting & Procurement
- Data and Digitalization in Healthcare
- Patient Pathways & Patient Rights
Each session connects these complex topics to the real experiences of patients, providers, and policymakers — preparing journalists with story-ready content that informs and empowers the public.
