On 19th of July, “Joint Response 2019”, a complex protection and rescue firefighting drill took place at OKTA’s premises. The drill was organized at state level and was one of the largest of its kind held in the country in recent years. The event was attended by the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, the Minister of Interior, Oliver Spasovski and the Minister without Portfolio, Edmond Ademi who were observing the drill from OKTA’s administrative building. OKTA’s guests were also the President of the Management Board of Makpetrol, Andrea Josifovski, Russian Ambassador Sergei Bazdnikin, as well as other representatives of the diplomatic corps and the business sector.
The interactive drill was operated by the Protection and Rescue Directorate while OKTA was co-organizer of the event. Best proof on the drill’s importance is the fact that a total of 380 people and around 80 fire engines, medical vehicles, aircrafts and helicopters participated during the four-hour activities. Participating partners at the drill were the Firefighting Brigades from Skopje and Kumanovo, the PE Macedonian Railways Infrastructure, the Red Cross as well as firefighting and medical units of several private companies. The scenario that was prepared by a professional team included an extreme situation consisting of multiple fires and explosions, endangering people and material goods. The main purpose of the drill was to act preventively, to demonstrate the capacity and the readiness to respond in an event of a real fire and to show whether and where the performance for quick response eventually requires improvement.
During the drill, OKTA’s FF unit showed consistency and high readiness in giving prompt and effective response. The participation in such activities is an indicator of the company’s commitment and devotion on safe and professional handling of unpredictable crisis situations.
