{"id":30314,"date":"2023-02-28T17:47:24","date_gmt":"2023-02-28T15:47:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amcham.mk\/?post_type=events&#038;p=30314"},"modified":"2023-04-03T14:38:27","modified_gmt":"2023-04-03T13:38:27","slug":"policy-discussion-consumer-protection-law","status":"publish","type":"events","link":"https:\/\/amcham.mk\/mk\/events\/policy-discussion-consumer-protection-law\/","title":{"rendered":"Policy Talks: Consumer Protection Law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Public Policy Session for AmCham members regarding the new Consumer Protection Law took place on March 22, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The specific challenges and difficulties that all stakeholders encountered in the implementation of the Consumer Protection Law sparked constructive discussion among members companies during the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Members discussed the challenges in implementing the Law due to its ambiguous provisions and loopholes. Shortcomings in the consultation process for the adoption of the Law were pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hence, the members agreed to take initiative to emphasize the inevitable need to amend the Law to create conditions for its smooth implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In light of increased monitoring of companies for their compliance with the Consumer Protection Law (CPL), we invite our member companies to the Policy Session, in collaboration with Pepeljugoski Law Office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The challenges that are now being experienced by the business sector will be discussed as well as the provisions of the CPL, or in more details:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Broad observations on the Consumer Protection Act (CPL);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Details regarding compliance with European directives;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adherence with the Macedonian Constitution and Macedonian legislation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Structure of CPL;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Packaging, pricing, and product replacement;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sales inducements;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unfair trade practices;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Obligation to provide pre-contractual information;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;Distance&#8221;
