AmCham Trade Mission – New Impulse in Trade Relations between the Two Neighboring Countries


AmCham North Macedonia and AmCham Greece, with assistance and support of the US Embassies in Skopje and Athens – have organized their first Trade Mission titled “Business Beyond Borders” for companies from Republic of Greece and Republic of North Macedonia. The event was visited from approximately 60 representatives of the Macedonian and Greek business community and about 40 (B2B and B2G) meetings were held.

In his introductory address, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce of North Macedonia, Mr. Dragan Davitkov, described this event as an “exceptional opportunity” that will contribute to strengthening the economic relations between the two countries, while encouraging personal friendships, long-term partnerships and of course, exchange of experience and knowledge between the members of the two AmCham organizations.

His counterpart, Mr. Nikolaos Bakatselos, President of the American-Greek Chamber of Commerce, praised North Macedonia’s efforts to attract Greek investors, highlighting its importance as a “port for Greece to European markets”.

The US Ambassador to North Macedonia, H.E. Kate Marie Burns, expressed her satisfaction for organization of this type of event and called it a clear proof of the progress in the relations between North Macedonia and Greece in the post-Prespa Agreement period. She also pointed out that North Macedonia with its position is the heart of the trade in the Balkan region and that these types of progressive cooperation “are the foundations for future long-term peace and development in the region”.

The Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Mission of the Greek Embassy in Skopje, Ms. Gina Andreadi, emphasized that the Trade Mission not only opens space for enhanced bilateral cooperation between Greece and North Macedonia, but also enables trilateral cooperation between the two sides with the United States of America.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs in the Government of North Macedonia, Mr. Fatmir Bytyqi, as an active supporter of the Trade Mission since its initial stages, said that “we are witnessing the full potential of a great friendship”, especially referring to the opportunities and benefits that North Macedonia offers to foreign investors, while he was presenting some of the activities that assist the country to be positioned on the map of the best investment destinations in the region.

The event was also attended by the Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy in Athens, Mr. David Burger, who emphasizing the role of the United States in strengthening cooperation in the region, expressed his satisfaction with the role of the two AmChams’ organizations in creating “Regional economic synergy”, pointing up the importance of Thessaloniki and the port of Thessaloniki for trade and economic development of the two countries.

An integral part of the Forum of the Trade Mission Event was a Presentation and Q&A session on investment opportunities available in our country, moderated by the Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs in the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia. As part of the Trade Mission, direct B2B meetings were organized between companies from Greece and North Macedonia that operate in several different sectors. Visits to our member companies Pivara, and ARC Automotive within TIDZ Bunardzik were made.
