On 21 October 2026, the American Chamber of Commerce in North Macedonia will host a roundtable titled “Strengthening Institutional Coordination on Intellectual Property Protection through the National IPR Coordinative Body.”
AmCham sees effective intellectual property protection as essential for encouraging innovation and building a predictable, level playing field for business. The National Coordination Body for Intellectual Property has played a key role here in the past by coordinating the work of the different institutions responsible for the field. The roundtable will explore ways to reactivate the Body and set the conditions it needs to work continuously and effectively.
Participants will look at what the Body has achieved so far as a coordination mechanism and at the gaps in coordination today. They will also discuss what reactivating the Body would take in practice, including how it should be set up, how much institutional commitment it needs and what would keep it running over time. A central part of the discussion will be practical experience from businesses that deal with intellectual property protection every day, and their concrete proposals for making enforcement more consistent and effective.
The roundtable will bring together representatives of the business community, the relevant state institutions and professional associations. This mix of perspectives should help turn the dialogue into joint recommendations.

The event is part of the project “Strengthening Advocacy Capacities for Effective Policy Engagement” which AmCham North Macedonia implements with support from the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), Washington, D.C.
