We are pleased to share a recap of two recently held event sessions focused on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, organized by Tikvesh and USAID.
During the ESG Conference by Tikvesh, supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Union, and the Western Balkans Enterprise Development and Innovation Facility (WB EDIF), we offered a comprehensive overview of ESG within the country’s corporate sector, discussed significant trends and compared the situation to other markets in the region. We also provided and overview of the main challenges companies face, while highlighting how the AmCham supports its members through resources, networking opportunities and advocacy efforts. We have emphasized that, ESG must be viewed as part of the overall sustainability efforts of the business, rather than just a framework for reporting.
The conference featured ESG professional’s as speakers from our Membership. Alkaloid presented on “The Power of Employer Branding,” the Macedonian Stock Exchange discussed “ESG Reporting Guidelines,” and Pro Credit Banka explored “ESG Requirements and Sustainable Finance Opportunities in North Macedonia and the Western Balkan Region.” Many guests had the privilege to participate in the conference and network with the attendees in discussing key priorities and trends.
At the regional Balkanomics Conference, organized by Creative Business Solutions CBS and supported by USAID, panelists talked about the importance of ESG for Western Balkan businesses, sharing top reasons for its significance. We presented key conclusions from the 2023 ESG Readiness and Maturity Assessment Analysis, educational initiatives in North Macedonia and discussed future plans. Additionally, we addressed the most significant upcoming regulatory challenges related to ESG in the region.
We remain committed to embracing and advancing ESG practices and being vocal supporters for ESG implementation on both national and regional levels.
