AmCham organized an information session on the AI Antenna – Vezilka initiative, held with the project leader, Prof. Dimitar Trajanov from the Faculty of Information Sciences and Computer Engineering (FINKI), giving members an opportunity to explore access to expertise, resources, training and support for developing and adopting AI solutions. The session provided an overview of Vezilka’s role in strengthening North Macedonia’s AI ecosystem and supporting the development and adoption of AI solutions. Participants learned about the range of services available, including AI readiness assessments, idea development, prototyping and pilot support, mentoring, technical assistance and responsible AI guidance. Particular attention was given to the support available to SMEs and startups, which often face higher barriers to accessing computing resources, expertise and AI-related skills. At the same time, the session highlighted opportunities for larger companies to engage as pilot hosts, data partners, employers, co-funders and consortium partners.
A key part of the discussion focused on AI skills development, with training and upskilling opportunities available free of charge to participants regardless of company size or prior experience. The programme also aims to support responsible AI adoption by providing guidance on issues including the EU AI Act and GDPR. Vezilka aims to connect businesses and other organisations with AI expertise, computing resources, datasets and opportunities for cooperation at national and European level. The initiative is designed as a practical pathway through which organisations can assess their needs, develop ideas, test solutions and, where appropriate, scale them using high-performance computing resources.
AmCham welcomes initiatives that strengthen the local AI ecosystem and create practical opportunities for businesses to adopt and develop new technologies. Effective coordination both within and across the private sector, public institutions, academia and technology experts will be important for translating AI potential into concrete solutions and sustainable business opportunities in North Macedonia.
