On December 4, 2020, AmCham organized a workshop with the Customs Administration where members had the chance to get first-hand information about the preferential rules of origin, how to cross over Brexit and how can companies adjust to these changes.
Key takeaways:
- The trade agreement between North Macedonia and the UK has been signed, but there will be an impact for companies that import/export products with cumulative EU/UK origin because of the lack of trade agreement between the EU and UK. The tariffs directly with the EU will remain the same
- The changes in the preferential rules of origin are the following: easier conditions for acquiring origin, the possibility of customs return – drawback, digitalization of the evidence of origin
- One of the key advantages of the new preferential rules is the fact that production operations necessary to acquire certain goods of preferential origin can be carried out in several countries – complete cumulation.
Based on the excellent cooperation with the Customs Administration, AmCham will organize additional workshops according to the interests of members, therefore, we invite members to send topics of interest.
