Skopje, 06.10.2020 – The American Chamber of Commerce in North Macedonia organized its 20th Annual General Assembly on October 6, 2020 at the Aleksandar Palace Hotel in Skopje.
The U.S. Ambassador to North Macedonia Her Excellency Kate Marie Byrnes, AmCham’s Board of directors, more than 70 representatives from member companies, as well as honored partners and supporters attended the Assembly to mark the Chamber’s 20th Anniversary and to review AmCham’s 2020 achievements. The event included the election of new members to the Board of Directors. The newly appointed Board members are Maja Filipceva-Director Tax of Grant Thornton, Nikola Ljushev- CEO of Makedonski Telekom, Lambro Patche- Public Affairs and Communications Manager of Pivara Skopje, JV of Coca-Cola HBC and HEINEKEN, Ivan Novakovski-Director of NOVA International Schools and Jordan Dimitrovski-Owner and CEO of Aitonix.
The U.S. Ambassador to North Macedonia in her speech summarized U.S.-North Macedonia relations and remarked, “Today we celebrate the success of AmCham. We recognize your dedication to fostering the partnership between our two countries. We recognize that the business links and the people-to-people ties between North Macedonia and the United States are deeper, broader, and stronger because of your efforts.”
AmCham President Mr. Ljupco Georgiev spoke about the Chamber’s achievements, the challenges faced by the COVID-19 crisis, and the transformation of the organization’s processes to mitigate the risks from the pandemic. As stated, “The COVID 19 pandemic has opened a door for even greater challenges. A time when life and business as we know it, turned into a new reality. Globally and locally, with no exceptions! As much as it seems now that the issues we face have a deeper, more profound impact on our way of life and doing business, there is no better time to think of growth, and how to become better, stronger, and more resilient, than in times of crises.”
The spotlight of the event was the panel discussion “20 Years Building Connections” with two respected panelists Mr. Kristijan Polenak, AmCham Founder/Ex-officio and Managing Partner of Law Firm Polenak, and Mr.Ljupco Georgiev, current President of AmCham and General Manager of Microsoft in North Macedonia. Sharing their insights in AmCham’s past, present, and future, they portrayed two decades of the remarkable history of events and accomplishments. AmCham expressed gratitude and recognition to everyone that paved the path forward by awarding the longest-standing member companies, the U.S. Embassy in North Macedonia, the founders of AmCham, and AmCham’s Ex-Officio (Former AmCham Presidents).
AmCham will continue its efforts and activities for supporting member-companies, aiming toward even greater success in the forthcoming years.
