Roughly 60 member representatives attended the 21st AmCham General Assembly, that was held on October 29th, 2021. On this occasion, more details were provided about the AmCham three-year strategy set for the period 2021-2023, as well as the activities that marked the past 12 months.
The event was opened by the AmCham President, Ms. Maja Filipceva, referring to the ongoing AmCham’s activities in terms of strengthening the regional cooperation and increasing the potential business opportunities among the neighboring countries. As it was pointed out, all these activities contribute toward creating a basis for prosperity and economic growth within the Euro-Atlantic partnership.
Ms. Filipceva’s addressing was followed by the Assembly’s guest-speaker, H.E. Kate Marie Byrnes, the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of North Macedonia, by praising AmCham’s continued and dedicated work towards digitalization, corporate responsibility, and regional cooperation, even in the face of the pandemic. She once again reaffirmed that transparency, predictability, and a level playing field enable private companies to thrive, creating good local jobs for North Macedonia’s talented youth.
A comprehensive report was delivered by the Committees’ Chairs, Ms. Shishkovska and Mr. Petreski, about the work and activities of the Law-making and Digital Transformation committees. Also members were informed about the establishment of a new committee for Environment, Social and Governance issues – ESG, as well as the two working groups focusing on Taxation, and Sponsorships & Donations.
As every year, the working part of the Assembly included admission of new members, review on proposed amendments to the Association Agreement, and election of new Board members. This year, the Assembly confirmed two-year mandates of the following nominees: Dragan Davitkov, Director at PwC North Macedonia, Ivan Kostic, Director General at Philip Morris–Tutunski Kombinat Prilep and Jordan Dimitrovski, CEO of Aitonix.
