Job Announcement – POLICY OFFICER

AmCham North Macedonia is a business organization representing companies divers in size across various sectors of the economy, by sharing their voice in promoting a sustainable, predictable, and competitive business landscape through advocacy and events as well as sharing best practices. AmCham North Macedonia is an accredited member of The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and AmChams in Europe (ACE) which serves as umbrella organization for 46 American Chambers of Commerce (AmChams) from 44 countries across Europe and Eurasia.


ROLE

AmCham North Macedonia is looking for a full time Policy Officer on an initial one-year contract, as part of its multi-disciplinary enforcement team. The Policy Officer will be working on AmCham’s evidence-based public policy activities under the direct supervision of the Policy Manager and will be responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and supporting policy and projects development and implementation.

RESPONSABILITIES

  • Conduct comprehensive desktop research and analysis on a diverse range of policy issues
  • Formulate policy positions that include drafting position papers, policy briefings, reports, presentations, and other documents that provide evidence, conclusions, and recommendations to support policy development
  • Facilitate and participate in conducting consultations with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Work closely with the communication team to ensure consistent and precise communication of policy messages and contribute to the development of communication strategies.
  • Follow relevant policy developments and trends by monitoring legislative activities and tracking policy changes as well as provide input for policy adjustments or updates based on policy effectiveness evaluation.
  • Participate in the development of projects that encompass preparing project applications, coordinating project tasks, engaging with committee members, and ensuring the timely achievement of project deliverables.
  • Scheduling meetings, preparing minutes of the meeting, maintaining documentation, and actively participating in organizing public events to facilitate discussions on policy issues.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University education – preferably in economics/international relations/political science
  • Advanced English proficiency
  • Digital skills – MS Office Tools
  • 3+ years of professional experience (advocacy/regulatory affairs is advantage)
  • Understanding of policy making processes
  • Experience in working with public institutions/Government
  • Experience in preparation of projects and grant application
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, listening and personal presence
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, ability to multitask and prioritize
