Two members of the AmCham North Macedonia – EVN and Pivara Skopje were chosen as one of the eight best projects within the Trust in Business Initiative, launched by the AmChams in Europe and the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), based in Washington.
The initiative aims to promote the best practices of how companies are putting ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) principles into practice and enhancing their operations to build trust and collaboration with the local communities.
More than 30 companies and organizations from 10 countries in the region of Southern and Eastern Europe participated and submitted their projects. “The Sustainability Initiative “World Without Waste” by Pivara Skopje and “Reduction of air pollution in North Macedonia – Popularization & Enabling of E-mobility” by EVN, both companies as active members of the AmCham ESG Committee, were chosen among the best eight projects.
The Project of EVN focuses on establishing a nationwide infrastructure for charging e-vehicles, a key prerequisite for broader adoption of e-mobility in our country, contributing to a greener transportation while making a positive impact in reducing air pollution. On the other side, the goal of the Pivara Skopje’s project is to establish a sustainable recycling system of packaging waste, which incorporates both collection and recycling, as well as increasing public awareness, with the end goal of minimaxing the negative environmental impact. Within the World Without Waste Initiative, Pivara Skopje created effective partnerships with various stakeholders, including local communities, NGOs, institutions, the public, and the media.
The eight finalists (LINK TO BROCHURE) are recognized as excellent examples that foster trust between the private sector and the local communities, build sustainable partnerships that improve the society as a whole and inspire positive changes in the countries.
EVN & Pivara Skopje together with three other international future-oriented leaders were part of the moderated discussion on November 30, 2021, spotlighting their ESG projects, within the Trust in Business Initiative.
This in fact coincides with the mission of the AmCham ESG Committee as a local promoter that increases the awareness of the ESG fundamentals through sharing best practices for a healthy socio-economic environment and focuses on the core components of good governance in developing strategies that bring forth green growth and the development of a circular economy.
