OKTA Donates Traffic Accessibility Devices For The Visually Impaired

On the occasion of October 15 – World White Cane Day, OKTA signed a memorandum of cooperation with the National Union of the Blind of the Republic of North Macedonia, with which the company will donate 50 accessible pedestrian signals, contributing to easier community integration of the visually impaired individuals. The devices will be installed on various boulevards and streets that represent critical points in the city of Skopje.

“This time we go one step further of providing support to our visually impaired fellow citizens, in order to facilitate their participation in traffic and everyday functioning. We hope that with this activity, we will increase the awareness of other traffic participants, for people with disabilities, as one of the most vulnerable categories of pedestrians “- said Vuk Radovic, Chief Executive Officer of OKTA.

This Memorandum of Cooperation is part of the long-term Program “I CARE” implemented by OKTA in order to raise awareness of traffic safety at a national level. In 2017, the program won an award for best socially responsible practice.
