The recently proposed Draft Law amending the Law on Environment reflects the country’s commitment to aligning its national legislation with European Union standards. Recognizing the importance of effective environmental regulation for driving the green transition, AmCham North Macedonia actively participated in the public consultation process.
In line with its strategic focus on supporting responsible and predictable legal frameworks, AmCham prepared a position paper with comments and recommendations aimed at enhancing the proposed legislative solutions. The recommendations address specific articles of the draft law, as well as broader suggestions to ensure the creation of a more effective, fair, and enforceable environmental law. This contribution aligns with the findings of the 2023 European Commission Progress Report, which emphasized the need for stronger environmental preparedness and accelerated reforms.
