Consultation Response on Law on Electronic Documentation, Electronic Identification and Trusted Services

As North Macedonia continues its journey toward a digitally driven future, important steps are being made to build a modern and harmonized legal framework. The introduction of the Law on Electronic Documents, Electronic Identification, and Trust Services marks significant progress, reflecting the Ministry of Digital Transformation’s efforts. Recognizing the importance of this process, AmCham North Macedonia actively engaged in the public consultation.

Through a detailed position paper, AmCham offered comments and recommendations aimed at further improving the law’s effectiveness. Key suggestions include the need for proper regulation through bylaws, revision of specific sectoral laws to ensure full equivalence between electronic and paper-based services, and a proactive role for the Ministry in coordinating the harmonization process across government bodies. Setting clear deadlines for regulatory updates was also proposed to accelerate North Macedonia’s digital transformation efforts.
