The new edition of the School for Journalists, which took place on 22 June on the premises of ProCredit Academy in Veles, organized by ProCredit Bank, passed in a pleasant and working atmosphere. In line with its commitment to responsible banking and sustainable development, the topic of this event was “Responsibility in Practice: Understanding the ESG Concept.”
ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) practices and reporting according to ESG have quickly emerged as topical issues of global interest that include the attitude of companies to the environment and social environment where they operate, including companies’ corporate governance.
The School for Journalists aroused great interest among our journalists who cover topics from the economic, financial, and banking spheres, as well as from the domain of environmental protection and sustainable development. This topic stimulated a fruitful discussion among the attending journalists and representatives from the private and banking sectors. Useful opinions and experiences were exchanged on ESG, but also on transparency of companies and their impact in society in general.
Proven experts from the fields of economics, entrepreneurship, economic journalism and communications were carefully selected as lecturers and speakers at the School. In their presentations, these speakers addressed the significance of the ESG standard and its wider application in journalist reporting and corporate operations, as an incentive for responsible practices and setting a positive example in society. Emphasis was put on long-term benefits from the timely implementation of ESG standards, including the proper utilization of human capital.
On the occasion of its 20 years anniversary, ProCredit reopened this School, which was also active 10 years ago, and announced that it would become a platform through which they would regularly communicate with journalists and invest in education on topics of importance to the entire society.
