In today’s fast-paced global economy, attracting top talent is essential for business growth and national competitiveness. However, complex administrative procedures often create barriers for companies seeking to hire foreign professionals. Recognizing this challenge, North Macedonia is moving forward with amendments to the Law on Foreigners, aiming to streamline work and residence permit procedures.
AmCham North Macedonia has prepared a position paper with key recommendations to further improve the legal framework. Our proposals include introducing a fast-track procedure for issuing temporary residence permits for senior management and highly skilled professionals, simplifying the hiring process for professional athletes, and harmonizing deadlines in related laws to prevent administrative confusion. Additionally, we emphasize the urgent need to resolve permit quotas for 2025 and advocate for the digitalization of residence and work permit procedures to increase transparency and efficiency.
As legislative discussions progress, AmCham remains committed to supporting a business-friendly environment that attracts top talent and strengthens North Macedonia’s economic position.
